If your AI written content is good enough for your website’s home page, service pages, and your blog, Google will reward it by ranking it highly in the search engine results page, or what we call the SERPs.
Even if you edit some of your AI written content, some of it will still be detected as AI. So, how much AI content is acceptable for Google to still rank it highly? Here is what my agency does.
First, we use an AI detector to determine how much AI content is on the page being tested. Now, there are many AI detectors out there. Some are good, some not so good. None of them are perfect. But the best one we have found is ZeroGBT, and that is the one we use to test AI content.
As an example, we will look at the top ranked websites for the keyword “plumber Austin Texas.”
Using the Incognito mode in Chrome, we search for the top three results for our keyword. First, we see an AI overview recommending Reliant Plumbing in Austin. But in the organic results we see Reliant Plumbing ranked second. I’ll explain in another video why that is.
So, let’s look at the top-rated plumber, Abacus Plumbing. First, we see the title tag that says, “Plumber, Austin” and their phone number. Plumber, Austin is the exact keyword they are trying to rank for and it’s right there in the title tag. That’s a plus for them.
Let’s look at the home page content to see how much of their content is AI written. There are many methods of copying just the text from a webpage. We use a site called Free Website to Text Converter.
Once on the website, you simply enter the URL of the webpage and click Convert to Text. Click Copy and paste into a word processor or a Windows application like “Text.” You can then edit it to strip away hyperlinks or other unnecessary text.
Next, go the ZeroGPT, paste the content and click Detect Text. You are limited to 15,000 characters in the free version. In a few seconds you will get the result. In our example Abacus Plumbing only has 23.9% AI written content. That could mean if you have 24% of your content written by AI, Google is OK with that. Content isn’t the only ranking factor, but it is a major one.
Here’s how the other two plumbing websites in the top three faired with their AI content.
- Reliant Plumbing: 35.4% AI generated content.
- Rooter-Man of Austin: 34% AI generated content.
Our AI Produced Content
All of our AI produced content is checked by ZeroGPT. Even if the content is reported as 10% AI written, it is checked by human editors for any errors and for sections that are not clear for the reader.
If you write all your content with AI: Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc. without a good prompt, your content will likely be tagged as being highly AI written.
